A warm and pink sky reflected in the water below. A moody landscape with plenty of atmosphere.
I’m moulding the landscape, sculpting it with my fingers and leaving enough pigments behind to build hills and valleys as I move over the paper. I’m bulding the shadows with many colours, layering them, one on top of the other to make the darkness richer.

Fragrance

Fabulations of October in March. Inspired by frosty mornings and a warm and earthy autumn palette. This is time travelling by art, as I’m daydreaming of October evenings filled with hours of slowly deepening blues. Twilight in October has this clear blue sky with a hint of frost in the air. 
Viewed through a filter of time as it’s 6 months apart, there’s even a promise of fabulous views if you climb up to higher grounds. Enough time has passed that it’s easier to express the lingering dream more than the reality making it possible to create a colour poem expressing the experience and emotions through colour and shapes.

A bunch of flowers

The light is special when the land is covered in snow. In the middle of the dark season everything changes when the snow arrives and blanket every surface, the world lightens up and it’s like the earth itself becomes the source of light. The landscape is familiar but feels new and pristine, the fragrance is gone and all is  filled with stillness. Like a pause and a beautiful interlude.

This September Song is created in February when dreaming of September. This colour poem bear the remembrance of late summer evenings when the warm air is ripe with the fragrances of blossoms and berries, expressing the essence of the experience through colour and shapes. ​This is time travelling through art, daydreaming and reliving these special evenings when summer lingers on and is coloured with ripe fruits and dried seed pods. I am standing alone on the shore, the landscape before me looks empty at first, the strong feeling of solitude grips me but in my mind I ‘am already far away.

This lyrical landscape express a longing to follow the wind, as it riples over the waters suface, along the fjord towards new shores,  in the process it’s chasing up mountansides to kiss new expectant faces.

Steep hills and shallow dales 2

This small pastel is one of three drawings I made over the same theme; The flavour of summer. 
Summer comes with sweet treats and tasty berries. My all time favourite is strawberries with cream. They taste heavenly. Its a real treat to enjoy the delicious bright red juicy berries outside on a warm summer afternoon.

In this pastel drawing, I explore the interplay between abstraction and impressionism, where soft, flowing lines merge with bold, vivid colours. These elements evoke a sensation of movement and emotion, capturing a lively dance of forms on a warm backdrop. Mutual dependence

This is a tale of a herd of deer sleeping peacefully on friendly slopes. The pastel painting describes the close relationship. By blending the colours and by using the same palette on the scenery and the deer I reinforce the tight connection and mutual dependence that exists between the to different life forms.

Inspired by hillsides with patches of snow and cotton grass brightening up the autumn colours. After days on end with pouring rain from heavy cliuds the hillsides has turned into wet marshes with straw full  of sparkling teardrops and a plenty of babbling brooks.  But as soon as it clears up the colours glows in the sunlight, turning the hillsides into welcoming golden slopes. Inviting me out in the fragrant air for walks and to try out new pallets when back home.

Floral

This artwork are created with handmade soft pastels on 300 g cotton paper. It's framed floating boxed in an unstained oak moulding and Artglass to cut the reflections. Inspired by life affirming sun and the fabolous yellow lichen that covers the rocks along the coast making them light up and shine as the sun. Spring is moving on fast feet over the land, visiting every nook and cranny leaving fresh colours as its footprints transforming the land and colouring it so beautifully and the best of all bringing it all back to life again. The rocky shores are becoming friendly places for new life to start and for curious children to play. Its a fabulous time of the year - all is fresh and new and yet forever old.
I base my artworks on memories of places that has a significant impact on my life and that vividly lingers with me. I am fascinated by the ancient soul of these old landscapes surrounding me and the sustainable life they contain when left alone. Here I feel the connection to my foremothers as we enjoy the same view and sincerely hope that future generations will get the same opportunity.   I want to convey to the viewer my respect, wonder, love and joy for untouched nature through coloured dust on paper, and in this way remind us of our impermanence and that we are fortunate guests.

This piece started off as a big red statement and I thought I had made a mistake. But as I kept on it, it started to evolve and became something new and uniqe. Now, as the surprice has died down, I’m really happy with the result.

Volatile Violets. Chasing the Wind

This series is based on the smell of landscapes, plants and nature that trigger memories. Inspired by warm earth in spring, new seedlings and dry seedpods. 

About this series: The memories on which the works are based are often fleeting and only live as small glimpses or flash backs. Salty sea, seaweed, hot summer hay, straw and flowers, fresh wind sweeping up the mountainside, forest floor and warm earth are smells that linger and can take me back years. These flashes are used as a foundation for pastel drawings where the pigment dust is rubbed into cold-pressed cotton paper. The color moods are built layer upon layer and the olfactory sensations emerge as a visible soul-landscape on the surface of the paper.

I am drawn to the horizon — it holds both longing and expectation, and an experience of vast, open spaces.

As evening falls, the stillness of sea and sky invites a quiet solitude, a moment of inward reflection.

I mould the landscape with my hands, sculpting it as though it were clay. My fingers leave traces of pigment behind — enough to raise hills and carve valleys across the paper. The shadows are built from many colours, layered one upon another, deepening the darkness until it becomes full and alive.

Creating an abstract landscape on the paper is much like telling a story through the steep cliffs and babbling brooks. The tale of majestic mountains and friendly slopes are told by dry pigments moved over the paper with my hands. Slowly the paper are filled with recognisable shapes and places remembered.

Tales of a scenery 1

I do enjoy to turn a specific place or a recognisable landscape into colourful poetry. 

This is inspired by Fagrance; The scent of heather and moss carried by clean mountain air. The tang of wetness from babbling brooks and vapour from waterfalls. The deep and aromas of wam earth at the sunlit slope. 

These are examples of fragrances that carries memories of places and moments that stays with you, they are like capsules that spring to life every time you recognise it and transports you back. 

The motive has been dissolved and translated into colour to express the experience of fragrance rather that a recognisable place.

Mossy path

Chase the wind as it hasten over the heath and down the moors, between plants and rocks. These rambling reds are doing just that, full of energy and joy. Happy for autumn, for bright reds and deep shadows.

Ethereal as a sigh, the poetry of cobalt dust drifts through memory and imagination alike. It twists and twirls, teasing the mind with glimpses of distant peaks and forgotten songs, inviting the eye and the heart to dance in its delicate, blue-lit world.

This piece grew from a small 20 × 20 cm work I created a few years ago. Enlarged, it has taken on a life of its own—its origin still visible, yet now carrying a new, ethereal and dynamic presence.

A hope for winter
"As winter approaches and the daylight dwindles I hope that my inner light is kindled"
This simple poem comes as Autumn arrives with warm light and deep shadows. The shifting seasons brings a new palette, colouring the land and setting the mood. As the days are getting shorter, the shadows deepens, the orange and reds are getting sharper and more beautiful.  I’m getting infatuated by the modulations of autumn. This is Irresistible Orange. Glowing embers in the night.

Is it possible to feel calm in the middle of a storm? It can be exiting to feel the powers at play and existential to experience the drama and intensity, but also humbling, life affirming and rejuvenating. This pastel painting belongs in the "Forest Tales" series.
The scene is inspired by walks in woodland parks; Inbetween tree trunks an knarled roots, you find lush green moss and small but delicate flowers. The sunlight  filters through the branshes above and land silently on the forest floor.

We are here together for a little while, just visitors. The traces we leave behind must be of a different nature than what destroys the nature around us. I like to keep this quote from the Anglican Church's Liturgical Handbook in mind "Earth to earth, ashes to ashes, dust to dust" It's a humble reminder that gives me a perspective and presence of mind I appreciate.

In our time, this is one of the most difficult things to do. It sounds easy but isn’t .  Even if you only manage to focus for a few seconds, it’s worth it ! To sense the whole in the smallest part .
