Art Recommendations With Maria Brym
We’ve invited special guests from our community to share the artworks they dream of owning. Today's guest is Maria Brym.
Maria Brym is one of the co-founders of Desk Stories, which is a new type of company event service where the content is designed to spark creativity and fun into any workday. The idea was born between Maria, with experience from the company event, television, and theatre industries, and Johanna Birkeland who came from publishing, theatre, and TV. Maria is also a solo artist and is currently touring with a special Kate Bush history and song concert.
Here are Maria's art recommendations:
Bjorn Bjarre - Gaia, 2024, silkscreen print, 86 × 65 cm, 7 500kr (ex. frame)
"I'm all about colours and how they bring moods and atmosphere into a room. I want energy, sunshine, and summertime skies around me all year, and my home reflects that in pastel colours like pink, blue and yellow. So I wasn't surprised when Bjørn Bjarre´s beautiful print caught my eyes as soon as the browser opened up Atelie. It's calming, balanced, and yet so intriguing. My dad is a painter, and he always taught me about the great ancient painters that made sure that the eyes would travel across an image, and discover something new everytime they looked at it. I really find this in Bjarres print. It's two different eternities, even three, when I think of it, next to the circles (that I wonder if they are binoculars??) Love it!!" —Maria Brym
Hanna Fauske - Pingvinen, 2022, 50 x 70 cm, 2 520 kr
"I mean, how could you not love a penguin in front of a campervan eating frozen pizza?? This photo makes me remember to be playful, true as well as it kickstarts my creativity - a must!" —Maria Brym
Jenny Hviding - Tøyenbadet, 2021, print, 30x40cm, 5775kr
"Growing up in Oslo, Tøyenbadet has been such an iconic place. We went there with school, and often when we just were old enough to go swimming alone with friends. We went there in the summer, and for exercise. Its renovation is really an end of an era for me, and the beginning of something new. When I see the slide in pieces at the bottom of the empty pool it instantly takes me ping ponging through the past and the future. Makes me both sentimental and hopeful. I need this photo!" —Maria Brym
