Jeg tok dette bildet av denne unge jenta som sitter ved vannkanten på Coney Island, New York.
Hun var så fredelig da bølgene skylte mot henne.
Malt med tempera på grunnet linlerret, strukket på en treramme.
Tempera er et permanent, hurtigtørkende malingsmedium som består av fargede pigmenter blandet med et vannløselig bindemiddel (egg, olje og vann).
Tempera malerier er svært langvarige, og eksempler fra det første århundre e.Kr. finnes fortsatt. Eggtempera var en primær metode for maling til etter 1500 da den ble erstattet av oppfinnelsen av oljemaleri.
Leonardo da vinci og Botticelli er eksempler på artister som brukte tempera.

I wanted to paint this piece on a large scale, inspired by a photo I took of my children during our vacation. It’s interesting how we perceive things—although she is standing on her head, we still see the painting as them lying on the beach.

This painting is created using tempera (a mix of egg, oil, and water) on linen canvas.
