The painting ‘Entre Duas Mãos’ (between two hands) is a direct and intuitive collaboration between Ragnhild Nes and Lars Gangdal, created during a residency at Duplex AIR in Lisbon, winter 2025. The work reflects spontaneous decisions and trust in the face of the unknown. Spray paint, oil sticks, markers, and paint have shaped a shared expression—layer by layer—between two hands.
Nes and Gangdal have previously collaborated, including on their duo exhibition at Galleri Kösk in 2023, where they created two large-scale paintings. This piece continues the ongoing dialogue between them.
Ragnhild Nes (b. 1993) is a visual artist based in Oslo, primarily working with painting. Her practice is driven by an intuitive and exploratory approach, influenced in part by the Cobra movement. Nes continuously engages with painting in relation to sculpture, text, and spatial installation. Poetry and written language often appear directly on the canvas, serving as both material and conceptual guides for the development of composition and palette. Her work explores the inner and outer landscapes of the human experience, where abstraction and figuration meet. Nes has exhibited both nationally and internationally, and has participated in artist residencies in Portugal, Italy, and Denmark.

Lars Gangdal is a visual artist known for his curiosity — both in terms of subjects and materials. His abstract works range from minimalist to maximalist, yet always carry traces of where he comes from: a small village near Lake Mjøsa in Norway, surrounded by abundant nature and long winters. His paintings often reflect a duality between the natural environments of his upbringing and the urban surroundings of the city.
In recent years, Gangdal has gained recognition for his distinct brushwork and evolving visual language. He has exhibited at venues including Atelie Oslo, Kösk, Duer, and Hos Arne, and has taken part in international collaborations.
