Inspiration for this work is a Lithuanian folktale: a wandering king encounters a wolf who offers him help under one condition: the king must promise to give the wolf the first thing he encounters upon returning home. Believing it trivial, the king agrees—only to find his daughter rushing to greet him. Bound by his promise, the king faces a haunting dilemma between loyalty to his word and love for his daughter. The story unfolds as a journey of wit, where the king must find a way to fulfil the bargain without forsaking his family. This tale echoes themes of sacrifice, cunning, and the power of promises. Jacquard woven, wool, polyester. Photo: R.Halleraker for KRAFT.
