The picture is one of three panels made of red overalls that have been bounced up and sewn back together to form large surfaces. The pieces of cloth can be reminiscent of patterns of landed properties and cultivated land. The overalls are clean, but marked with stains of paint, grease and acid damage. Stains that do not disappear in the washing machine. Two of the panels were immersed in one bath with chlorine and one bath with hydrogen-peroxide, respectively. As the bleaches worked, the red monochrome colour became more differentiated and took on colours towards orange and yellow.
