Romsås Tower Art Fair 2026
Atelie x GalleryLab present an art fair at Romsås that gives the format a new direction through local belonging and accessibility. Since all the artists in Romsås Tower have already been carefully curated by Oslo Municipality's Department of Culture, every one of them is invited to take part.
Welcome to the opening Thursday 28 May at 18:00
In this exhibition you will find artworks under 5000 NOK from over 30 artists. By inviting artists to apply directly, the project draws attention to artistic agency and the frameworks for how we encounter art. Here, the fair is understood as a structure in constant development, something that can be moved, adjusted, and opened up for new connections between artists, audiences, and place.
The exhibition creates connections between the artists in the tower, the local community, and new art collectors. To make it easier to buy art for the first time, every artwork is priced at 5,000 NOK or less. When an artwork is purchased, the collector takes it home the same day.
The exhibition opens on 28 May and also marks the opening of the art festival Oslo Art Weekend 28 – 31 May.
Artists In 2025, 93 artists were granted studio spaces through the Department of Culture's studio programme and moved in during the year. Romsås Tower Art Fair has invited these artists to participate in the art fair shown at GalleryLab at Romsås Senter.
About the collaboration GalleryLab and Atelie each work in their own way to make art more accessible to people who don't usually visit galleries.
GalleryLab is a new exhibition arena for contemporary art at Romsås, working alongside established art organisations on Oslo's art scene. GalleryLab wants to encourage more parts of Oslo to contribute to the artistic conversation and share their perspective, creating breadth and enriching viewpoints. Every time a new artwork is shown and a new voice is heard, the city's artistic self-understanding and the pulse of our times grow stronger.
Oslo Art Weekend 28 – 31 May 2026 Oslo Art Weekend is Norway's largest festival for contemporary art. Over four days, 50 art institutions across Oslo come together for a programme of exhibitions, performances, film screenings, guided tours, artist talks, and more. It's a unique opportunity to discover Oslo's contemporary art scene — from artist-run spaces and galleries to larger institutions and museums.
During Oslo Art Weekend, the city becomes a meeting place for Norwegian and international artists, professionals, art enthusiasts, and collectors. The festival engages the entire art field, facilitating art experiences, collaboration, and networking for Oslo's professional art community and the public.
The festival was held for the first time in 2016 by Oslo Art Guide. Read the full programme here: https://osloartweekend.no/
